Free Cataract Surgery for Eligible Queens and Long Island Residents
Westbury, NY August 31, 2009 — Ophthalmic Consultants of Long Island (OCLI) will participate in the Mission Cataract USA program, offering FREE outpatient cataract surgery throughout August and September to residents of Nassau, Suffolk and Queens who are not covered by medical insurance and who are unable to pay for the surgery themselves. Dr. Eric Donnenfeld is one of several ophthalmologists from OCLI who will donate his time and talents to Mission Cataract USA. A partner in OCLI, Dr. Donnenfeld will perform FREE cataract surgery at the Island Eye Surgicenter to give the gift of sight back to those who have lost some or all of their vision because of cataracts. A resident of Roslyn, Dr. Donnenfeld (http://ocli.net/physicians/ocli-donnenfeld-old.htm) is recognized as one of the leading refractive surgeons in the United States. He is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist with more than 10 years of experience in laser vision correction including LASIK and PRK. After completing his Ophthalmology Residency at Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital, where he served as Chief Resident, Dr. Donnenfeld completed a fellowship in disease, treatment, and surgery of the cornea at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia. He has written over 100 papers and books on refractive and corneal surgery and has lectured all over the world. Dr. Donnenfeld has performed more laser vision correction procedures than any other physician in New York, making him one of the most experienced laser surgeons in the country.
OCLI has performed charitable surgical procedures for many years with various local service organizations including The Lion’s Eye Bank and The Sons of Italy.
