EyeScience creates Scientific Advisory Board to further vitamin breakthroughs in treating AMD and dry eye syndrome.
COLUMBUS, Ohio, — In continuing their successful vitamin breakthroughs in fighting age-related macular degeneration (AMD), dry eye syndrome and other ocular conditions, EyeScience(TM) announced a Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) today. Coming from a broad range of ocular and medical professions, the creation of the Board signifies EyeScience’s dedication in providing quality, clinically-proven ocular products to its customers.

The professional members of the Board include Greg Evans, O.D., Patrick Dollenmayer, O.D., Jerald Bovino, M.D., Michael A. Samuel, M.D., Stephen Breaud, M.D., Tom Chang, M.D. and Robert Josephberg, M.D.
The professional backgrounds of the board members are as follows:
Greg Evans, O.D., is the founder of Evans Eyecare, a private practice located in Palm Springs, California. His group practice handles both Lasik surgery and specialty cataract surgery. With over 30 years in practice, Dr. Evans will be assisting EyeScience in the implementation of neutraceuticals in the practice environment. Dr. Evans tests macular pigment density and will be testing the efficacy of EyeScience formulations to improve macular pigment density scores in patients. Dr. Evans will also be assisting with evaluations of EyeScience’s dry eye formulation.
Patrick Dollenmayer, O.D., practices Optometry and Vision Care in Columbus, Ohio. Dr. Dollenmayer specializes in comprehensive eye examinations, specialty contact lenses, refractive surgery consultation and eye disease treatment. He is also an Extern Preceptor for the Ohio State College of Optometry.
Jerald Bovino, M.D., was one of the leading retina specialists in Toledo, Ohio for more than 20 years. He is the only American to ever receive the prestigious “Zivojnovic Award” of the European Vitreoretinal Society. Dr. Bovino was the co-founder and president of the American Society of Retina Specialists, and authored the textbook, “Macular Surgery.”
Michael A. Samuel, M.D., a nationally renowned clinician, retina surgeon, author and researcher. Dr. Samuel is a graduate of the Doheny Retina Institute/ University of Southern California. He currently resides in Los Angeles as the medical director of the Retina Institute of California. As an author, Dr. Samuel has written numerous peer-reviewed articles and has also authored the leading book, Macular Degeneration: A Complete Guide for Patients and Their Families.
Stephen Breaud, M.D., practices Ophthalmology in Louisiana and has over 25 years of experience. Dr. Breaud is a member of the American Medical Association, Clinical Assistant Professor at LSU and preceptor for the LSU Retina Fellow program, Fellow American Academy of Ophthalmology, and Fellow American Society of Retina Specialists.
Tom Chang, M.D., is an internationally distinguished surgeon, clinician and educator. Dr. Chang has completed three fellowships in retinal diseases, which include an ophthalmic pathology fellowship, a macular disease fellowship and a vitreo-retinal fellowship. His patients include many CEOs, professional athletes and physicians. Dr. Chang has given over 150 lectures in over 15 countries and has written more than 50 peer-reviewed articles.
Robert Josephberg, M.D., is an internationally recognized author, surgeon, lecturer, inventor and expert witness. Dr. Josephberg has offices located in New York and New Jersey. He specializes in treating macular degeneration and endophthalmitis. Dr. Josephberg is the inventor of the patented sutureless vitrectomy surgery.
